Spring Budget News

Overview

On the cusp of a difficult state budget battle, Visuality helped AFT-Wisconsin shape public opinion around common sense hospital assessment legislation that would clear the way for hundreds of millions of dollars in new federal funds to flow to Wisconsin. The radio campaign, produced as a state budget news update, sounded like a radio news package and was designed to put pressure on Republican State Assembly leaders, who were standing in the way of the provision. After a long, protracted battled over the issue, Governor Jim Doyle signed the legislation into law in February 2009, increasing federal Medicaid funding to Wisconsin by $900 million and expanding coverage for the uninsured.
